Dr. Umamaheswara Rao Kalapatapu, M.D., F.A.P.A.

Dr. Umamaheswara is a board certified psychiatrist.  He is  a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine.  Dr. Umamaheswara is also Board certified in Geriatric Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry.  He is  certified by the American Board of Adolescent Psychiatry.   He is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Additionally, Dr. Umamahesh is an Instument rated Private Pilot, certified by Federal Aviation Administration of USA.   He is also a CPP, Certified by Professional Photographers of America and has received awards for his work.

·         1979 = M.D. from Guntur Medical College, Guntur (A.P.) India.

·         1979 = University Gold Medal in Ophthalmology from Nagarjuna University, India.

·         1981 – 1984 = Residency in Psychiatry at Mental Health Institute, Independence, Iowa.

·         1986 = Board certified by American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in Psychiatry, Certificate No. 28401.

·         1989 = Certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), Certification No. 002803.

·         10/1995 = Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Geriatric Psychiatry, Certificate No. 1438.

He has completed  Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at Mount Sinai in New York City & is currently in a 3-year research Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at Columbia University in New York City.  2) Rajkumar Charan Kalapatapu, is in Medical School in Guntur, A.P., India. 3) Dr. Veena Raj Kalapatapu, MD., is in Residency in Anesthesiology at Burlington, Vermont.

Dr. Sitha Gita Kalapatapu, M.D.,D.G.O., F.A.P.A.

Dr. Sitha Gita is a board certified psychiatrist.  She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  She is certified by the American Board of Adolescent Psychiatry.  She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine.  She has a Diploma in Gynecology and Obstetrics, which she received in India.   She is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr.  Sitha Gita is an accomplished South Indian Classical Carnatic musician.  She is an AIR ( All India Radio ) Artist in in the musical instrument Veena.  She was awarded as the Best Singer of the Festival in the IVth, Vth, and VIth All India Inter Collegiate Competitions. In 1987, she was honored with Life Time Achievement Award by TANA ( Telugu Association of North America ).  She recevied several accolades for her musical accomplishments over the years.

  • Won more than 100 awards in several music competitions.
  • Recognized by presentation of a tambura as the most outgoing student at medical graduation for bringing more than 50 prizes for her medical school.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award for her musical accomplishments in the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) in 1987 at St. Louis, Missouri.
  • Was one of the 2005 Salute to Women Finalists, an award sponsored by the YWCA, Lafayette, Indiana, recognizing the outstanding women in the community.
  • Recorded a CD – ‘Raj Trio’ with her three children who are concert pianists and professional musicians.
