Autistic Disorder
Autistic disorder is a condition in which the child is extremely unresponsive to other people, has gross impairments in communication skills, and shows bizarre responses to various aspects of the environment. Autistic children do not develop normal interest in and attachment to others. A profound language disorder is the clinical hallmark of autism. Autistic children who can speak usually have immature grammar structure, echolalia (mimicking sounds made by others), reversals of pronouns, difficulty naming objects, and inappropriate nonverbal communications.
